Broadcast Engineer
Eurovision Services is seeking a highly motivated Broadcast Engineer to be part of our Production Hub, based in Madrid.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
As a Broadcast Engineer you will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of the Broadcast Infrastructure at the Eurovision Services Production Hub. In detail you will:
- Develop and maintain good working practices in all your operational duties, implementing and improving procedures.
- Define and implement workarounds according to the level of criticality.
- Ensure compliance with established technical standards.
- Share information and knowledge with the rest of the operational teams.
- Provide active feedback about the operational performance to the rest of the staff in the Production Hub.
- Monitor the report of faults/modifications on equipment in the Eurovision Control Room or any critical technical points that might appear across the network.
- Support your direct manager in performance evaluation processes, meetings, and decision-making processes within the team.
- Ensure optimal resource and task allocation, with proper follow-up.
- Take temporary measures to ensure the business continuity of our broadcast services.
- Train the team to maintain consistent, high-quality service through monitoring and service integrity assurance.
- Guide staff on capturing incident logs in the relevant operating system for internal follow-up with support teams and external reporting to customers.
- Occasionally participate in event projects to provide technical guidance and engineering solutions.
- Occasionally take part in outside missions, acting as a technical coordinator, engineer, or engineer-in-charge.
In this position, you will be required to work on shifts, including weekends, overnight, and on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 5+ years working as a Broadcast Engineer in an MCR, ideally in the field of sports events
- Ability to handle commissioning processes of the SMPTE ST2110 broadcast network
- Proven experience with Video over IP, SMPTE ST2110, PTP, with the ability to operate, analyze, and troubleshoot these systems
- Familiarity with broadcast (live) production workflows and terminology
- Proven experience with live broadcast systems: video switching, live graphics, audio handling, slomo systems
- Proven experience with broadcast signal transmission: fibre, SRT, satellite communications, streaming
- Ability to implement monitoring tools and actively follow up and solve alarm events
- Proven experience with audio/video/IP testing and measurement systems
- Ability to define workarounds in case of equipment failure
- Technical knowledge to keep our broadcast systems permanently up to date
- Ability to read, understand, and maintain technical documentation (AutoCAD, Visio)
- Experience with NMOS implementation and administration
- Proven experience with video format standards and processing
- Knowledge of video colorimetry and HDR-SDR conversion workflows
- Strong computer skills: networking, streaming, first-line maintenance, etc.

- Stress management
- Project management experience will be considered a plus.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (mandatory)
